A Sweet Stockpile

I have a number of finished and unfinished paintings lying around my apartment. I love to hide work until an opportunity pops up where I’m able to show good, finished work properly. There’s nothing nice about a rushed project or unrefined work due to deadlines!

This is a painting I’ve had in my room for months! It took me over 6 months to complete it. It’s a juxtuposition of natural and man-made sweets. What are the contrasts and comparisons between the two subjects and the ways that they are produced? God made the strawberry beautiful and delicious, and it was good. Man processes sugar, derives dyes, and packages it in colorful wrapping to imitate the strawberry to make a buck. No harm done by candy companies(except for cavities maybe), but the analogy is that while many things are replicated by eager men, original beauty and taste can not be duplicated.

I liked the process of the STRAWBERRIES ;)

  1. I love the thought behind this! Very well executed as well! Though I have to admit, I’m a bit of a candy fiend I immediately gravitated towards the man-made “strawberry” haha.

    Love the work, sir!
